Bugongi CDC

Celebrating 26 Years

Since 1996

History of Bugongi CDC

Bugongi CDC located in western Uganda, Sheema district and in Bugongi town council is the very first and oldest of AMG Uganda projects that started in 1996 with 11 children and two staff members.

AMG Started at Bugongi in 1996 with 11 Children, that number has since grown to a hundreds of children being recruited into the project. Majority of them have done well with their education and a good number have graduated with different qualifications at different levels. certificates, diplomas, degrees and hands on skills in last 25 years. Our Ministry approach is holistic in nature, it encompasses man in totality Spiritually, Mentally, Physically and social –economical.  In regard to our vision “Equipping for a perfect Presentation” Col.1:28 children and youth meet at the center every Saturday for spiritual nature. As regards to cognitive development (Mental) our children are enrolled into school at different levels of education ranging from primary to University.  Since in 1996 we have had 26 degree holders 13 diploma graduates, and 125 certificate holders  and so many with hands on skills are in self- employment and artisanal small scale businesses like metal fabrication, wood work and  carpentry, mechanics etc.  Currently we have 128 children benefiting from the sponsorship program 57 are in Primary school, 24 are in secondary school, 34 are in Tertiary institution and 13 are in University.

Parents of these children are engaged in economic activities that are initiated and monitored by AMG. Examples of such are goat raring, commercial pig raring and the Parents SACCO or Revolving Fund. In the goat project we use the “send a goat model”. When a goat gives birth to a she kid you raise the kid up to the winning stage and send it to another person. If the kid is male we can decide to sell it and buy a she goat or castrate it. With revolving fund or SACCO parents pulled resources together to create a fund where they can borrow and pay back at a small interest to meet their basic financial needs and top up for their children school fees. This revolving fund is a brain child of the goat project; so, the goat project is a back born of the revolving fund. When goats increase we shall some of them and put money in the fund. The Pig project (Commercial pig farming) is a new intervention and it is in its first year of implementation. But it seems very promising as you see in the pictures.

  4.  Bugongi CDC has graduates from various institutions in Uganda giving them hope for a better future.

We thank God for his goodness.
