Bukoto CDC

Celebrating 25 Years

Since 1997

History of  Bukoto CDC

Bukoto CDC currently located at Lugogo Babtist Church  Kampala.

AMG Bukoto CDC started in 1997 and it’s the second oldest project among the 8 projects of AMG Uganda.

The primary beneficiaries were children coming from Kamwokya slum and the surrounding areas. This area has been lawless for a long time with one of the highest crime levels in central Uganda.
When the CDC was founded, drug addictions were rampant, spiritual empowerment clearly lacking and school was both not a priority but also not affordable to most parents.

AMG Bukoto is currently supporting 119 children and have supported over 600 children since it’s formulation back in 1997.

The project works and operates mainly at Lugogo Baptist Church. A partnership with Lugogo Baptist means that children can be better guided in spiritual formation which is key to AMG’s strategy and intervention.
This partnership also enables AMG Bukoto CDC to reach out to the communities around Nakawa where most of the beneficiaries are currently residing.

AMG Bukoto’s Key thematic areas are Education, Discipleship & Evangelism, counseling and Economic Empowerment.

Over the years, the project has had 62 degree graduates, 33 Diploma graduates and 60 beneficiaries awarded with hands-on and vocational certificates. There are 119 children that are still in school.
Since it’s inception, their intervention has benefited over 600 children from needy families around Kampala.

Once every week all the children in the project come together for what is called a Center day. This is where children study the Bible and are taken through a discipleship programs using various materials. It’s here that trained councilors take time to talk to children and help them navigate issues of concern as well as do life with them.

AMG Bukoto is the only one of the 8 projects that works with needy children in Kampala, Uganda’s Capital. Coupled with the high numbers of graduates, and the success in their intervention, AMG Bukoto is on track on equipping children for a perfect presentation.

Today AMG Bukoto still aspires to create tangible change in the vulnerable children of Kampala.
